…have kids and grandkids and we prepare them for life’s cruelty by teaching them everything we know, maybe we make friends and food and music and memories that we know will die with us but we make them anyway because they’re ours while we have them and if death is greedy with the life it takes, we can be generous with the love we give. If there’s a use to crying over a life well-lived, there must be a use to living life well. Maybe not, but personally, I’m willing to chance it.
