This is great, Melanie. I have never heard of this — makes so much sense!

We also don’t donate to charities, typically. We do give to orphans and national church planters overseas, through Final Frontiers Foundation. They support orphanages and national church planters (people who already live in the country, know the language and culture, are part of the community, and start churches). Less than 6% of what is taken in by Final Frontiers is for admin, overhead, marketing, etc. Everything else goes to the families being supported. It’s similar to Compassion, Intl., in that we actually receive regular correspondence to the families we personally support.

We have been thinking recently about other ways to help people in need, both in the community, as well as globally. KIVA sounds great — thank you for the heads-up.
