Super interesting — my husband is reading Stephen King’s writing memoir right now, and has shared some of King’s personal rules, including leaving as much description as possible to the imagination of the reader. I think it depends on the genre, of course. And it’s interesting that most classic literature totally ignores this. A reflection of culture’s change in the ability to pay attention, perhaps?
